Frank Boateng is an academic, management practitioner and researcher with extensive experience spanning management, finance, governance and the mining industry. He is Senior Lecturer of Management Practice at the University of Mines and Technology in Ghana and Acting Director of the Institute of Minerals Resource Investments & Governance. He also serves as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Southampton Business School in the United Kingdom.
Before moving into academia, he accumulated more than two decades of experience in the mining industry, holding progressively senior positions across accounting, financial control, business analysis, commercial management and executive leadership, including Country Managing Director and Group CEO. He has also served as an adviser and board member in Ghana and the United States.
His academic background combines management, finance, accounting and law. He holds a PhD in Management from Walden University, an MPhil in Business Consulting and Enterprise Risk Management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, an MBA in Finance from the University of Leicester Business School, as well as degrees in accounting and law.
Governance, Finance and Sustainable Resource Development
His research examines how governance, investment and management practices shape organizational, financial and developmental outcomes, particularly in resource-intensive and emerging-economy contexts. Boateng’s research brings together corporate governance, finance, sustainability, management practice and resource-sector development. His work addresses questions concerning responsible investment, institutional governance, climate and sustainability initiatives, infrastructure and economic development, and the contribution of mineral resources to emerging economies.
