Biography

Tong Yao is Chair of Guangzhou Fanghe Data Co., Ltd. and Director of the Guangdong Engineering Technology Research Center for Confidential Computing. A senior engineer in computer and software technology, Tong’s research and professional work focus on secure cross-border data flows and applications, data security, privacy-preserving computing and artificial-intelligence security.

Tong also serves as Executive Director of a Guangdong–Hong Kong joint laboratory for data security and privacy protection and as an industry mentor in Digital Economy and Finance at Lingnan College, Sun Yat-sen University. Tong has participated in national and provincial research projects and holds six invention patents.

Risk Drivers of Cross-Border Enterprise Data Flows

Tong’s doctoral research examines the causes of risk associated with the cross-border circulation of enterprise data, within a broader research agenda concerned with the circulation, security and application of data.
